\subsubsection{$\tau$ validation package}
2 |
3 |
In addition to the analysis excercises
4 |
described in the previous sections the $\tau$ reconstruction validation package has been run
5 |
%% over pure di-$\tau$ samples (Z$\gamma \rightarrow \tau\tau \rightarrow 2\tau$-jets in the final state) and
6 |
on skimmed $t\bar{t}$ events.
7 |
8 |
%% (produced by the filter ``CSA06_HiggsTau_1lFilter'').
9 |
The skim filter, based on Monte Carlo truth, selected events with at least one electron or muon with a transverse
10 |
momentum of $p_{T}^{\rm e, \mu}>$15 GeV/$c$ with a selection efficiency of $\approx$47\%
11 |
12 |
A total of 2.15M of $t\bar{t}$ events were produced with a total data size of $\approx$1.5TB (FEVT).
13 |
The RECOSIM output of the filter ($\approx$180 GB) was moved to various T2 centers in UK, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. The jobs, submitted through CRAB from CERN, have been run over ~250k events in Pisa tier2.
14 |
15 |
The $\tau$ validation package, whose scope is to monitor
16 |
the performance of the various $\tau$ tagging methods\cite{tauval_paper}, includes a number of standard histograms which
17 |
be produced periodically for each release of CMSSW and during data taking. Some of the most relevant histograms are
18 |
the Efficiency vs Isolation Cone, Efficiency vs Jet transverse momentum , Efficiency to find the Leading Track, Number of Signal Tracks, $\Delta$R between the leading track and the jet.
19 |
As an example Fig.~\ref{fig:tauval_isoeff} shows the $\tau$ tagging efficiency versus the isolation cone (left) and versus the jet transverse energy (right). The various curves correspond to different selection of the primary vertex: for
20 |
$t\bar{t}$ events without pileup, the various definitions are almost equivalent, as expected.
