The TaNC algorithm has been with the goal of maximizing the discriminatory
2 |
information available to the algorithm, and can be broken down into four
3 |
steps:
4 |
5 |
\begin{itemize}
6 |
\item Collect a set of particle-flow objects consistent with a
7 |
hadronic tau decay.
8 |
\item Merge photon pairs into candidate neutral pions and compute the decay mode of
9 |
the tau candidate.
10 |
\item Remove objects that are consistent with underlying event
11 |
contamination.
12 |
\item Apply a discriminant \emph{specific to the reconstructed
13 |
decay mode} to the tau candidate.
14 |
\end{itemize}
