In this note we will present new electron selection criteria which have |

been developed in the context of $W^{\pm} Z \rightarrow \ell^+\ell^- \ell^\pm \nu$ |

analysis. The criteria utilize most of the official electron identification |

In this note we will present a study of electron identification and isolation |

variables targeted to discriminate between electrons and jets with large |

electromagnetic content. We also present an optimized simple cut-based |

selection criteria that allow achieving a similar level of performance |

without the need of complex categorization of the official ``Loose'' and ``Tight'' |

criteria. The criteria utilize most of the official electron identification |

discriminants with an addition of isolation requirements. The selection |

criteria thresholds are tuned to achieve higher suppression |

of copious $Z+jet$ background. The new selection requirements are also |
12 |
|
compared to the official electron criteria within the framework of the $WZ$ analysis. |
