In this note we will present a study of electron identification and isolation
4 |
variables targeted to discriminate between electrons and jets with large
5 |
electromagnetic content. We also present an optimized simple cut-based
6 |
selection criteria that allow achieving a similar level of performance
7 |
without the need of complex categorization of the official ``Loose'' and ``Tight''
8 |
criteria. The criteria utilize most of the official electron identification
9 |
discriminants with an addition of isolation requirements. The selection
10 |
criteria thresholds are tuned to achieve higher suppression
11 |
of copious $Z+jet$ background. The new selection requirements are also
12 |
compared to the official electron criteria within the framework of the $WZ$ analysis.
