4 vuko 1.2 We have investigated the sensitivity of the CMS experiment
5 ymaravin 1.6 to the detection and study of the $\proton\proton\to\W\Z\to 3 \ell\nu$ process.
6 vuko 1.2 Signal and background samples were processed through full simulation,
7     reconstruction and analysis chain of CMS.

9 vuko 1.4 The present analysis expects a yield of 35 signal and 13 background events per 300 \invpb of the
10 ymaravin 1.6 CMS integrated luminosity. Chances are, therefore, that first observation of
11 ymaravin 1.5 \WZ\ pair production can be achieved by the end of the first CMS
12 ymaravin 1.6 physics run. We estimate a statistical significance $S_L\simeq 7$ for 300~\invpb.

14 ymaravin 1.6 In this note we develop methods for measuring the background yield
15     from data. The largest challenge in the background suppression is proved to be the
16 vuko 1.2 rejection of fake electrons originating from hadronic jets or photons. Even
17     though less problematic, the rejection of true leptons from heavy quark
18 ymaravin 1.5 decays is also an important key in reducing the background. Further work is
19     planned in these directions together with e$\gamma$ and $\mu$ POGs.
20 vuko 1.2
21     The relatively large signal yield and low level of background for the
22 ymaravin 1.5 the $\WZ\to 3l$ mode makes it particularly attractive for the study of
23     anomalous neutral triple gauge boson couplings, which should
24     be done with as little as 500 \invpb. Larger data samples allows restrict or
25 ymaravin 1.6 discover Technicolor and ED Higgs-less \WZ production phenomena.
