We present results of a search for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM)
3 |
in final states with $Z$ bosons,
4 |
hadronic
5 |
jets, and missing transverse energy. The search is based on
6 |
a 34~pb$^{-1}$ data
7 |
sample of 7~TeV proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS detector
8 |
at the Large Hadron Collider in 2010.
9 |
The event yields are compatible with SM expectations.
10 |
We set upper limits on the product of cross-section, branching
11 |
fraction, and kinematical acceptance for events with $Z \to \ell \ell$
12 |
($\ell = e$ or $\mu$), at least two jets of transverse momentum
13 |
$>$ 30 GeV in the pseudorapidity region $|\eta|<2.5$, and
14 |
with missing transverse energy $> 60$ GeV or 120 GeV.
15 |
We find that these limits are only weakly model dependent.
16 |
They are $\sigma \times {\cal B} \times {\cal A} < 0.5$ pb and
17 |
$<$ 0.2 pb at the 95\% confidence level for the looser and tigher
18 |
missing transverse energy requirements, respectively.
19 |
We also provide additional information to test whether specific models
20 |
of physics beyond the SM are excluded by our results.
