\section{Plans for Calibrations with Early Data}

Based on the current status of the calibration methods we have decided to
exercise a subset of the presented scheme in Figure~\ref{figure:hcalWorkflow}
for early data.

After collecting $\sim10~pb^{-1}$ of data we expect to be able to provide
relative azimuthal corrections from MinimumBias events and set the energy scale
with $40-60$~GeV isolated tracks as a function of $i\eta$ (in the region
with tracking coverage).

The estimates of $\sim10~pb^{-1}$ for isolated tracks is contingent on timely inclusion
of the HLT for data taking. In the December 2009 collisions data triggers that
require tracking were not active. Subsequent offline analysis of the data
revealed the presence of some timing problems related to tracking (not caused by our code).
We hope that these issues will be resolved by the start of 7~TeV collisions.

Additional consistency checks will be performed using
the jet samples that include monitoring of the ratio of energy in long/short fibers
in HF, the energy scale in +/- sides of HF and HE with no tracking coverage.
The monitoring may yield relative correction factors in case of abnormal response.

Before accumulating the noted statistics we will perform tests of the workflow with
lower momentum tracks and extract information on relative channel response.
However, response corrections that adjust the energy scale will be obtained
directly with the predefined $40-60$~GeV tracks. The inclusion of these corrections
constitute a significant change of the scale in HB/HE that will require
redefinition of various jet corrections that are build on top of the raw detector
energies.

Calibrations with larger data samples and additional techniques under development will be
discussed in a subsequent update or a separate note.
